Workshop: Administrative Data and Causal Relationships Across the Lifespan

I presented The impact of depression and treatment uptake on labour productivity at a workshop organised by MUCHE and the Lifespan Health and Wellbeing Research Centre at Macquarie University.

The presentation uses linked Australian administrative data spanning 2017–18 to 2022–23 and a stacked event-study design to trace earnings dynamics around first observed antidepressant dispensing. It focuses on how administrative data can help us understand health trajectories and causal relationships when experimentation is not possible.

The workshop also featured Fabio Martinenghi’s talk, The Concentrated Cost of Coercion: Labour-Market Consequences of Vaccine Mandates for Non-Compliers, on the labour-market effects of Western Australia’s COVID-19 vaccination mandates. A big thank you to Fabio for visiting us and giving such an engaging talk—I was very happy to host him at Macquarie.
